K-8 Spanish heritage modules

Between 2005-2007, a group of Chicago Public Schools teachers with collaboration from Dr. Kim Potowski developed a K-8 Spanish curriculum for heritage speakers.

This article, published in Hispania in 2008, describes the theoretical underpinnings of the need for a heritage Spanish curriculum at the elementary school level, the local and national standards that were consulted for its creation, and possible future directions for K-8 language programs. Specific examples of scenarios from the curriculum are included.
